let's get to know each other
Hi, I'm Amanda!
I'm an Edmonton-based photographer and creative with 15 years of experience and a Design Studies degree from MacEwan University, majoring in Photography.
I have a diverse range of experience, with a focus on brand, portraits, life events, and products.
My photo retouching experience has led me to develop a passion for restoration work and fine-art portrait retouching.
I love helping my clients love themselves. If I can make you smile after the camera is put away, then I have done my job.
About
Amanda Swanson Photography
I have always been around cameras. My dad was an amateur photographer and had purchased lots of equipment for his old film Pentax. In the summer of 2005, I started playing with my dads' camera and learning how to do double exposure photos, just for fun. In 2007 I was gifted my first camera, a Nikon D40, as a graduation present. I booked my first wedding within a month of having my camera, and have never looked back.
Amanda Swanson Photography was created out of necessity. While I was in University I needed some kind of income to pay for food and other expenses. Taking on weddings and headshots for the acting students seemed like a solid income, and there were always clients. However, what started as a business of necessity grew into a project of passion the more photos I took.
The other thing I learned while at my internship with C. W. Hill Photography and Fred Katz Photography, was that I had developed a strong love for Photoshop and the beautiful things it could do when used correctly. One thing in particular that caught my interest was Photo Restoration; the act of fixing damaged images. What a magical and beautiful gift you can give someone. Fixing up someone's favorite capture of their old memories is truly a beautiful thing to see and I am so happy I learned how to be a part of that journey.
Currently, Amanda Swanson Photography is in the middle of rebranding, moving websites, changing our main focus from weddings to portraits, and finding new and innovative ways to continue to grow and thrive in the future. I truly hope that this business continues to run for years to come. It has been a labor of love and I am very excited to see where things go from here.

the beauty is what separates the snapshot from
the photograph.”
